Meditation is considered a type of mind-body complementary medicine. Meditation can produce a deep state of relaxation and a tranquil mind.

During meditation, you focus your attention and eliminate the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress. This results in enhanced physical and emotional well-being.


Benefits of meditation

Meditation can give you a sense of calm, peace and balance that can benefit both your emotional well-being and your overall health. You can also use it to relax and cope with stress by refocusing your attention on something calming. Meditation can help you learn to stay centered and keep inner peace.

And these benefits don't end when your meditation session ends. Meditation can help carry you more calmly through your day. And meditation may help you manage symptoms of certain medical conditions.


There are plenty of scientific studies that show how the meditative brain changes neuroplasticity and activates areas of the brain that weren't used before. Studies have shown on PET scans how a regular practioner of meditation operates more from the front of the brain and less from the primitive back of the brain which tends to keep us in our "Fight or Flight" mechanism.


Meditation and emotional and physical well-being

When you meditate, you may clear away the information overload that builds up every day and contributes to your stress. The emotional and physical benefits of meditation can include:

I have taught children as young as 4. Children are natural Meditators and quick learners.  A coping skill that benefits them for life!  Adults are never too old to learn meditation. In fact even in the final stages of life this can provide tremendous comfort & peace.

What to expect in an initial meditation coaching session?

  The first session is typically 60 minutes. This is a chance to share more about your goals and background with meditation, ask any questions, and discuss what will be most helpful to you. Depending on your interests, the rest of the session and future ones will include learning and practicing various meditation & mindfulness tools, troubleshooting any issues, helping you maintain a personal practice, and/or anything else related to meditation. Practicing meditation outside of sessions is helpful and I will offer suggestions on how and when to practice at home.
